CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Introduction
Habitat for Humanity Uganda (HFHU), affiliated to Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a Christian organization that works towards ensuring that every Ugandan has a decent place to live and thrive. Habitat for Humanity Uganda works with individuals, families and communities to improve their living conditions through affordable housing, clean water and sanitation, improved livelihoods and advocacy.
BMZ-Funded WASH Program – Busoga and Teso Sub-Regions
Habitat for Humanity Uganda (HFHU) is looking for partnership to implement an anticipated BMZ project to commence in October 2025. HFHU therefore invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified and experienced local and regional partners to collaborate on the implementation of a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project will focus on improving access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services in underserved communities across Busoga sub-region (Mayuge and Namayingo districts), and Teso sub-region (Kumi and Soroti districts).
Areas of Partnership
We are seeking partnerships with Community Based Organizations and locally indigenous NGOs that have demonstrable capacity and track record of accomplishment in one or more of the following areas:
- (i) Community-led water and sanitation infrastructure development
- (ii) Hygiene behavior change communication (HBCC), Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) and WASH education
- (iii) Strengthening WASH systems at local government level
- (iv) Gender programing especially for women, youth, and persons with disabilities in WASH access, live and governance
- (v) WASH in schools, health facilities and communities
- (vi) Capacity building of out-of-school adolescents, youth and women in socio-economic empowerment skills.
- Monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) in WASH programs.

Who Should Apply
- Local and indigenous NGOs with current or previous presence in any of the two regions.
- Faith-based and Community-based legally registered organizations
- Academic or technical institutions with WASH and Livelihood expertise
- Private sector actors with experience in WASH innovation
- Organizations with previous experience working on BMZ-funded or other institutional donor-funded projects
